Green Dot Ball is a joint sustainability initiative by the Tata Group and the BCCI that turns a humble dot ball into environmental impact by planting tree saplings.
The initiative, till date, has led to the planting of over 6 lakh tree saplings in specialised plantations for greater long-term survival across multiple locations in Assam, Munnar in Kerala, Sanand in Gujarat, Yavatmal in Maharashtra and Salooni in Himachal Pradesh, which are better suited in terms of climate and soil conditions.
More than 25 native species of tree saplings are professionally nurtured on an ongoing basis by experienced planters for long term continued care.
Piloted during the Tata IPL Playoffs and Final in 2023 and 2024.
The initiative expanded to the entire season of Tata WPL for 44 matches in 2024 and 2025.
In 2025, Green Dot Ball scaled across the full Tata IPL season for 74 matches.
Across Tata IPL and Tata WPL, the Green Dot Ball initiative has led to the planting of 6,41,166 tree saplings till date.
The tree saplings are placed in specialised plantations to provide a suitable environment for tree sapling survival across locations in Kerala, Assam, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Himachal Pradesh.
